2023 SHEro Campaign Report

This year's SHEro Campaign has officially concluded! We are excited to report that 483 donors collectively gave $46,750 as of June 12, 2023.

Every donor and ambassador to this year's campaign helped the Women's Endowment Fund share our mission with the Greater Akron community. Proceeds from the campaign support our grantmaking initiatives and will benefit the lives of women and girls in Summit County for years to come.

To date, more than 400 people have received a card to thank them for being a SHEro in someone's life. WEF Advisory Board member and SHEro Committee co-chair Joni Fitch explained that "by sending out cards throughout the campaign, we spread joy and inspire people to continue giving and expressing gratitude to the SHEroes in their own lives."

Monica Morson honored her SHEro, Dr. Raquel Morson, with a card containing the following message: "You are my SHEro, my female hero; a woman in my life who has inspired me and encouraged me."

This year's campaign would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of this year's 35 SHEro ambassadors. "We strive to grow our ambassador group with diverse individuals who can expand our reach and are representative of those within our community. It is inspiring to see so many forward-thinking individuals make a commitment to, and take initiative for, the women and girls in our community," said SHEro Committee co-chair Juanita Simpson.

Leaders of the SHEro Campaign strongly emphasize creating a sense of community among the SHEro ambassadors, which they hope will motivate them to stay engaged with the fund through various committee opportunities.

First-time co-chair and SHEro ambassador Rena Suber said that "while this year's SHEro Campaign has come to an end, its impact will continue for generations to come."

Erin Palmer, previous co-chair for the SHEro Campaign and current SHEro ambassador and WEF Advisory Board member, stated that "the impact of the SHEro Campaign goes beyond the month-long initiative. The donations received help support WEF's grantmaking to advance and empower local women and girls, and the relationships built by our ambassadors continue to foster a supportive network for the community."

We'd like to leave you with the inspirational words of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her words ring especially true as we reflect on this year's SHEro Campaign and hope that as our community continues to grow, our ability to support it with this campaign does, too: "Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you."
