In 2021, Akron Community Foundation and Summit County officials announced the creation of a new grant cycle devoted to helping nonprofit organizations that support residents directly impacted by the opioid epidemic. The Summit County Opioid Healing Fund was established by the Opiate Abatement Advisory Council using settlement funds from Summit County's federal opioid trial.
The fund awards grants of up to $25,000 to Summit County organizations, with preference given to projects that are currently not being funded by the Summit County ADM Board.
