Qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations can apply for a grant online by Nov. 1, 2023. A link to the grant application is available at akroncf.org/applyWEF.

A committee composed of Women's Endowment Fund advisory board members, donors and community leaders will review the grant proposals. The committee may request an in-person or virtual site visit or interview during the grantmaking process.

During its latest grant cycle, the fund awarded $175,000 to 31 nonprofit organizations, bringing the fund's cumulative grantmaking total to nearly $2.1 million during its 30-year history. To see a virtual timeline exhibit of the fund's history, visit akroncf.org/WEF30thAnniversaryTimeline.

Recent grants from the Women's Endowment Fund have provided shelter to women and children experiencing homelessness or domestic violence, supported women's financial empowerment programs, supported after-school programs and workshops cultivating STEM skills in young girls, and more. A complete list of 2023 grant recipients is available at akroncf.org/WEFgrants.

The next round of grants will be announced in March 2024. Preference will be given to programs that involve collaboration with other agencies, and efforts to obtain matching funds are encouraged. Requests for trips, general operating expenses, computers and office equipment are not generally considered unless they are program related. Funds may not be used for endowment purposes or to support scholarships, individuals, religious organizations for religious purposes, or organizations outside of Summit County.
