About Shefali
As the Director of Pediatric Nephrology and Dialysis at Akron Children’s Hospital, Shefali specializes in all aspects of pediatric kidney care with a special interest in kidney failure, dialysis and kidney transplantation for children. In addition to this role, she serves as the President of Medical Staff and Associate Chair of Pediatrics. She has been responsible for initiating and overseeing several multidisciplinary and innovative services for children with kidney disease and has been selected by her peers as one of the "Best Doctors in America" since 2013. She was the recipient of the Healthcare Leadership Award from the National Kidney Foundation in 2019 and the Weatherhead Executive MBA Leadership Award in 2021. Shefali served as the Founder Board member of the Women Physicians Association at Akron Children’s Hospital in 2017. In addition, she serves on the board of the Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation and the National Kidney Foundation. She’s an alum of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, and the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western University.
