On Friday, Dec. 5, Akron Community Foundation announced grants totaling $1,517,051. Its board ratified $1,063,551 in grants from designated, donor-advised, agency endowment and scholarship funds. It also approved $453,500 in discretionary, or board-directed, health and human services grants, which will fund 34 local nonprofit agencies that provide for residents’ health, wellness and basic needs.

This morning, Akron Community Foundation officials rededicated the organization’s office building at 345 W. Cedar St. in Akron. The event included fundholders, major donors and public officials like Summit County Executive Russ Pry and showcased $1.2 million in restorations and improvements made since a Jan. 10 electrical fire destroyed half of the 10,000-square-foot building’s interior.

Today, Akron Community Foundation’s board of directors reported a record $185.4 million in assets as of June 30, 2014. In addition, it approved grants totaling $2,361,501, including $1,901,501 in donor-directed grants from 125 designateddonor-advisedagency endowment and scholarship funds and $460,000 in discretionary, or board-directed, grants for civic programs.

ACF announces unprecedented growth at annual meeting »

Yesterday, Akron Community Foundation officials announced the highest 12 months of growth in the organization’s 59-year history for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2014. Nearly $20.3 million in contributions and investment growth of 13.7 percent brought the community foundation’s assets to an all-time high of nearly $181 million. President and CEO John T. Petures Jr. delivered the news to a crowd of more than 200 at the community foundation’s 59th annual meeting at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn.
