WEF raises nearly 40k through SHEro campaign
The Women's Endowment Fund raised nearly $40,000 during its annual "Who Is Your SHEro?" campaign throughout the month of April. For the second year, this fundraising was made possible by 36 local ambassadors committed to raise at least $1,000 each through their personal and professional networks. These funds will contribute to our grantmaking efforts, which support programs that improve the health and wellness, safety, and economic empowerment of women and girls in Summit County.
In addition to fundraising, this year's campaign promoted the accomplishments and biographies of local SHEros - inspiring women who have made a significant impact on Greater Akron - via social media. Local SHEro's highlighted during this year's campaign included Joey Arrietta, long-time general manager of the Akron Racers and Judge Mary Margaret Rowlands of Summit County's Court of Common Pleas.
Major sponsors of the SHEro 2019 campaign include GOJO, The J.M. Smucker Company, Leppo Rents, State and Federal Communications, and The University of Akron.
The SHEro campaign will take place again throughout the month of April 2020. For more information about the campaign or to become a SHEro ambassador, contact SHEro co-chair, Wendy Bolas at bolaswendy@gmail.com.
