SHEro campaign raises record nearly $60,000
The Women's Endowment Fund celebrated a record nearly $60,000 raised during its SHEro campaign throughout the month of April. Helping surpass our fundraising goal by nearly $10,000, 36 local ambassadors committed to raise at least $1,000 each through their personal and professional networks. These funds will contribute to our grantmaking efforts to programs that improve the health and wellness, safety, and economic empowerment of women and girls in Summit County.
In addition to fundraising, this year's campaign promoted the accomplishments and biographies of local SHEros - inspiring women who have made a significant impact on Greater Akron - via social media. Local SHEro's highlighted during this year's campaign include Emilia Sykes, representative for the 34th district of the Ohio House of Representatives; Lynn Budnick, executive director of Access, Inc.; Pastor Dee Williams, Ohio Baptist State Convention's first female pastor; and Sima Arshadi, Iranian immigrant and local artist and entrepreneur.
Major sponsors of the SHEro campaign include Leppo Rents, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Peg's Foundation, and Roger T. Read.
