Mission: North Hill Community Development Corporation's mission is to unite people, places, and programs in stimulating a robust and creative economy in North Hill, while anchoring a flourishing intercultural community that celebrates its vibrant diversity.

The North Hill Community Development Corporation (NHCDC) is dedicated to bringing cultural initiatives and economic development to the North Hill neighborhood, known for its multiculturalism and deep history of residents who resettle there from around the world.

"What drives us at NHCDC is the remarkable diversity and potential within the North Hill community," said Justin Chenault, executive director of NHCDC. "Every day, we see the creativity, resilience, and determination of our residents through the impact of our creative placemaking initiatives. The success stories of connecting residents, artists and businesses that have thrived with our support inspire us to continue our efforts."

At the NHCDC's recent International Day of Peace event, the neighborhood's multiculturalism was on full display, from the range of food served to the community members receiving the annual True North Awards for their positive impact on social justice, community-building and economic development in North Hill. Another hallmark of the organization is the scenic People's Park and its pavilion and stage, which join the Exchange House and the Maker House as gathering places for North Hill residents, all centrally located off North Main Street.

Grant funding from Akron Community Foundation has helped the nonprofit expand its programming to reach more residents, from mentorship and educational opportunities to using public art as a catalyst for revitalization, like the recent completion of the public mural, "The African Lifestyle," painted by internationally renowned African artist Nana Kwesi Agyar.

Community members can help North Hill CDC through several avenues: volunteering, donations, advocacy and partnership opportunities.
