About Tracy

Tracy Carter leads Summa's external affairs functions, including government relations. With 30 years of experience, Tracy co-led a collaborative that helped 60,000 Akron-Canton residents gain health coverage through Ohio's Medicaid expansion program. She continued these advocacy efforts while serving as vice president of government relations for Ohio's second largest public health system, The MetroHealth System. From 2009 to 2013, Tracy also chaired the Women's Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation and led a campaign that successfully raised more than $2 million to commemorate the fund's 20th anniversary. Tracy currently serves as the chair of our Black Giving Collective Fund. She also serves as the board president for The Well CDC, board vice president of Stark State College and co-chair of the Gun Violence Response Fund. Tracy is an alumna of The Ohio University College of Business and The University of Michigan School of Public Health. She is a graduate of The Advisory Board Company fellowship, Leadership Akron and Leadership Cleveland programs and has received numerous awards including the Judith A. Read Tribute Award from our Women's Endowment Fund and the Incorporated Change Maker Award from the Akron Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
