About Carla

Dr. Carla Chapman is a consultant specializing in collaborative project management, strategic planning, inclusive workplace environments, and community engagement. She previously spent more than 30 years at Akron Public Schools, most recently serving as Chief, Community Relations and Strategic Engagement. Prior to that role, Carla served as director of community relations for more than a decade, providing information about the school system to students and parents, as well as the Greater Akron community as a whole. She has also worked as the coordinator of special projects, as well as a social services specialist. In addition to her professional career, Carla serves on the boards of Alchemy Inc., Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, and Cleveland Clinic/Akron General. She is LeadDIVERSITY certified through The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio and a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory. She is an alum of The Ohio State University and The University of Akron, and earned her doctorate in Interprofessional Leadership/Cultural Foundations from Kent State University.
