About Carla
Prior to her current role as Chief, Community Relations and Strategic Engagement at Akron Public Schools, Carla previously served as the director of community relations for more than a decade, providing information about the school system to students and parents, as well as the Greater Akron community as a whole. She has also worked as the coordinator of special projects, as well as a social services specialist during her 30-year career with the schools. In addition to her professional career, Carla serves on the boards of Alchemy Inc., Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, and Cleveland Clinic/Akron General. She is LeadDIVERSITY certified through The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio and a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory. She is an alum of The Ohio State University and The University of Akron, and earned her doctorate in Interprofessional Leadership/Cultural Foundations from Kent State University.
