Longtime staff member promoted to Vice President and Chief Development Officer role
Today, Akron Community Foundation promoted Laura Lederer to Vice President and Chief Development Officer, following the departure of Margaret Medzie, who led the organization's development and donor engagement department for the past decade.
Laura has been with the foundation's development department since October 2011, helping to bring in hundreds of new charitable funds and also building the foundation's Professional Advisor Council alongside members of the board.
"Laura has been an anchor and leader on our development team for the past 12 years, which has been the greatest period of new fund growth and new contributions in the foundation's 68-year history," said John T. Petures Jr., president and CEO of Akron Community Foundation. "She's a relationship-builder and one of the most hardworking individuals I know. There is no doubt that her efforts and expertise played an essential role in that growth and will continue to do so as she takes on this new opportunity."
Prior to her work at the foundation, Laura was the director of development for the Akron Symphony Orchestra. She is a graduate of the College of Wooster and lives in Highland Square.
