John & Jane Warmus named 2025 Green Community Impact Award recipients

John & Jane Warmus have been announced as this year's Green Community Impact Award recipients at The Green Community Fund's Inaugural Annual Meeting. The Warmus's are the first recipients of the award, which The Green Community Fund will present each year to an individual or couple who has made an impact in the Green community.

For almost four decades, Warmus Companies has contributed to the Green community with jobs and residences for families and businesses. Properties that Warmus Companies is responsible for include the Boettler Business Center, the FedEx Custom Critical World Headquarters, Brier Creek Senior Independent Living, Greenview Senior Assisted Living and many more. Green Community Fund co-chair Barry Hollis emphasized the importance of Brier Creek Senior Independent Living and Greenview Senior Assisted Living, saying, "Warmus Companies has made it possible for people to stay and grow old in Green."

John, a native of New Philadelphia, is a graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in civil engineering. Jane, his wife and business partner, is also a graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in marketing. She also has a real estate license and was the administrator at Greenview Senior Assisted Living until her retirement a few years ago.

Some of John's community contributions include serving on the City of Green Design Board, the Summit County Contractor's Board and the Akron/Portage Builders Association. Jane is also an avid volunteer, having volunteered with St. Thomas Hospital and gathered donations for Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center (formerly the Battered Women's Shelter).

In addition to announcing this year's award recipients, Green Community Fund's Inaugural Annual Meeting included updates from its co-chair, Barry Hollis. Carson Evans, the fund's treasurer, presented financials, including an update on fundraising efforts. Since its establishment, the fund has grown to approximately $360,000 in assets.

In 2025, the fund awarded eight grants, totaling $15,000. The fund highlighted the 2025 grant recipients in a video, created with the help of local Green High School video production students.

Established during the city's 30th anniversary year in 2022, the Green Community Fund is a permanent endowment dedicated to strengthening the city by supporting meaningful civic and community initiatives. The fund is committed to serving as a catalyst for needed projects in the Green community, funding nonprofit organizations that serve local residents, and championing philanthropy throughout the community.
