GCEF annual celebration to support scholarship fund
The Gay Community Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation invites local residents and community leaders to save the date for "exhALE: Advancing Lived Equality," GCEF's annual celebration, on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.
This signature event celebrates the Gay Community Endowment Fund's impact in the community and showcases its most recent grant recipients. Proceeds support the GCEF Scholarship Fund, which awards academic scholarships to LGBTQ+ and allied students in Greater Akron.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre and will feature a performance by the North Coast Men's Chorus Coastliners. In addition, the fund will announce the recipient of its 2019 Paul Daum Award, which honors individuals who have demonstrated a significant commitment to LGBTQ+ causes and the Greater Akron community at large.
Sponsorship opportunities for the event range from $250 to $1,000 and include complimentary tickets to the event, among other benefits.
"This is a unique opportunity for individuals, families and businesses to show their support for Greater Akron's LGBTQ+ community," said Ed Kancler, event co-chair and GCEF advisory board member. "Their commitment as a sponsor will help us build a brighter future for the next generation of LGBTQ+ students and allies."
