Akron Community Foundation awards over $430K in annual scholarship funding

More than 200 students benefit from scholarships

Akron Community Foundation's scholarship funds awarded 218 scholarships totaling $431,697 during its most recent fiscal year. These scholarships are provided through the foundation's nearly 80 scholarship funds established by individuals, businesses and organizations to help local students offset the financial burden of achieving their educational goals. 

This year, students are using their scholarships to pursue their education at institutions including Case Western Reserve UniversityHoly Family SchoolDuke UniversityJohns Hopkins UniversityKent State UniversityLoyola University and The Ohio State University, just to name a few.  

"I applied for the Judith Resnik scholarship when I was a senior in high school and was awarded the scholarship," said Adwoa Odoom, Judith A. Resnik Memorial Fund scholarship recipient and Cleveland State University senior. "Four years later, I am finishing up my anthropology degree with a minor in biology. It was one of my goals to graduate without debt, and I was able to accomplish that with this scholarship as one of my main sources of financial aid."
