Ann Amer Brennan

Ann Amer BrennanAs an active member of the cultural, social services and education community in Northeast Ohio, Ann Amer Brennan was named the 33rd recipient of the Bert A. Polsky Humanitarian Award of Akron Community Foundation. 

Ann Brennan's commitment to her community began more than 30 years ago. She has served on the boards of numerous organizations and held officer positions on those boards in addition to chairing major community events. During the past 15 years, her activities have focused on serving as a full-time community activist in Akron.

"Ann Brennan has remarkable depth of leadership and volunteerism. Ann has been a leader for the arts. A leader of establishing women's places in the community. A leader of the community's larger family and her own family," said David Lieberth, master of ceremonies for the Polsky event, which was attended by nearly 500 people in October 2000. 

ACF Board Chair Robert Merzweiler offered, "Ann Brennan has been generous with her time, her talent, her wisdom, her energy and her money." 

In 1991, Ann Brennan was the first woman chair of Akron Community Foundation. Ann continues to receive many honors for her years of dedicated service and community activism. Her service to this community truly exemplifies the definition of a humanitarian. 

Ann Brennan earned a law degree and bachelor of arts in education from the University of Akron. She is a member of the Ohio, Florida and American bar associations.
