Join the Medina County Women's Endowment Fund as we celebrate philanthropy in the community during our Seasons of Giving event.

This year's featured speaker is Romona Robinson, eight-time Emmy Award-winning news anchor, speaker, and author. Robinson is one of the most respected and admired journalists in northeast Ohio.

We will also welcome Judge Jennifer Hensal of the 9th District Court of Appeals as our event emcee. Through her career, Judge Hensal has been active in Medina County, serving in Lodi, Medina, Seville and Wadsworth.

During the evening, we will announce and recognize our 2019 grantees. The event will feature a unique opportunity to win valuable raffle prizes reflecting each season of the year. Attendees will enjoy heavy appetizers, cocktails, and the chance to mingle with Medina County’s most influential business leaders and philanthropists.

Proceeds from this event support our mission of providing grants to nonprofits that create opportunities for the educational, physical, emotional, social, artistic and personal growth of women and children. To date, our fund has invested more than $170,000 back into Medina County. Learn more at www.medinawomensendowment.org

Inspiring, empowering and uplifting women and girls

In 1993, a group of 106 women came together with one goal in mind – to make a difference in the lives of local women and girls. Seeing a need for funding to support programs that empower this population, the women each gave $1,000 to start the Women’s Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation.

That $106,000 has since grown to $3.2 million, including funds from its recent "For Women, Forever" campaign, which raised more than $2.013 million. To date, the Women’s Endowment Fund has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants to programs that uplift, empower and educate women and girls throughout Akron and all of Summit County.

The group has also funded important studies on women and girls, including "The Economic Status of Women in Ohio," a briefing paper that uncovered great disparities based on race and ethnicity. These studies, along with the fund's biennial forum, help define the Women's Endowment Fund's grantmaking priorities.

Nonprofits interested in applying for a grant from the Women's Endowment Fund can find deadlines and other important information on our Issue-Specific Grants page.
