This year's SHEro Campaign has officially concluded, just in time for Mother's Day! We are excited to report that 405 donors collectively gave nearly $50,000 as of May 9, 2022.

Every donor and ambassador for this year's campaign helped the Women's Endowment Fund share our mission with the Greater Akron community. Proceeds from the campaign support our grantmaking initiatives and will ultimately benefit the lives of women and girls in Summit County.

To date, more than 450 people have received a card to thank them for being a SHEro in someone's life. By sending out cards throughout the campaign, we kept participants motivated to keep giving and express gratitude to the SHEroes in their lives. One recipient of a card shared the powerful message she received from her son: "You are my forever SHEro, who taught me how to be an advocate for women, and to champion and learn from their power."

This year's campaign would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of this year's 27 SHEro ambassadors. Thank you to those forward-thinking women who gave their time and energy to making SHEro 2022 a success! We'd also like to give a special thank you to WEF founding mother Marie Covington, who inspired this year's ambassadors with welcoming words and the history of the Women's Endowment Fund during the SHEro ambassador training.

About half of our SHEro ambassadors were new to the SHEro Campaign, which was a primary goal of this year's campaign. We strove to introduce a new cohort of community leaders and their networks to the work and impact of the Women's Endowment Fund, thereby extending our reach into the community. We also had more WEF Advisory Board members serve as SHEro Ambassadors this year, including Board Chair Laura DiCola. We put a strong emphasis on creating a sense of community among the SHEro Ambassadors, which we hope will motivate them to stay engaged with the fund through various committee opportunities.

Kim Cole, vice president of advancement at the University of Akron, was a new SHEro ambassador this year. She said, "It has been a pleasure to be a part of this great initiative." Claudia Diaz-Singer, senior director of talent development and workplace inclusion at The J.M. Smucker Co., and a member of Akron Community Foundation's board of directors, also shared her thoughts on this year's campaign: "It is amazing to see the team reach our goals! I have really enjoyed meeting other amazing people in the (Northeast Ohio) community!"

While this year's SHEro Campaign has come to an end, its impact will continue through the grants that will be awarded because of the money raised, the friendships formed among this year's SHEro ambassadors, and the messages that touched the hearts of the many women who were honored as SHEroes.

We'd like to leave you with the inspirational words of Michelle Obama, whom we often quoted throughout this year's campaign. Her words ring especially true as we reflect on this year's SHEro Campaign: "There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish."
