Trivia Night for Young Professional Advisors
Join us for a happy hour event for young professional advisors in Greater Akron. It's a fun opportunity for attorneys, accountants and financial advisors to connect with local colleagues while learning how Akron Community Foundation can help you accomplish your clients' goals through philanthropy.
Guests will enjoy a selection of food and craft beer while competing in a friendly game of pub trivia. We'll also hear from Craig Haines of Popeye's Boxing Gym to learn how this grassroots nonprofit organization is using the sport of boxing to empower and mentor local children.
Introduction to Proposal Writing and Project Budgeting
Are you new to proposal writing or want a quick refresher? If so, you don't want to miss one of our most popular classes! This class will provide you with an overview of how to write a standard project proposal for a foundation. It will include:
- The basic elements of a proposal
- How to write a standard project proposal to a foundation
- The "do's" and "don'ts" of writing and submitting a proposal
- How and when to follow up with funders after submitting a proposal

Community Issues Session: The Intersection of Arts and Healing
Join Akron Community Foundation for our Arts and Culture-themed Community Issues Session on Wednesday, May 1, featuring local agencies that are providing opportunities for healing through art therapy. You'll hear from Community Support Services, whose popular Art of Recovery event features the artwork of the agency's clients, who are individuals living with severe mental illness, as well as 2nd Act, whose drama therapy services help people with substance abuse disorder who are graduating from Akron Recovery Court.
Women & Wealth Seminar
Join Akron Community Foundation for our next Women & Wealth seminar, featuring Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer of the Summit County Probate Court. Guests will enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres while learning how to prepare for their financial future, including:
- The financial challenges faced by surviving spouses and why it's important to prepare for this now
- The key documents everyone needs for end-of-life planning
- How to avoid probate by making beneficiary designations
- What women need to know about building their charitable legacy

exhALE: Advancing Lived Equality
Join the Gay Community Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation for its annual celebration, exhALE: Advancing Lived Equality. This year's signature event will take place Friday, June 7, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the Knight Stage at the Akron Civic Theatre. Guests will enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and an inspiring program highlighting the fund's recent grant and scholarship recipients. All proceeds support academic scholarships for LGBTQ+ and allied students in Greater Akron.
